The Eccles and District Group Chairman Dave Walmsley was the principle guest attending the Swinton Masonic Hall to celebrate the installation of Maxwell Keith Bruce (Keith) into the chair of Exemplar Lodge No 5075. Dave was accompanied by grand officer Tony Edden and Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Craig Sutton.
The installation was performed by the worshipful master Jeremy Dootson on his return from convalescing from a serious operation, supported by his installation officers.
The address to the worshipful master was given by John Jones and that to the wardens by Edwin Schofield. The third degree working tools were presented by Brian Pearson, the second and first by Edwin Schofield. The Hall Stone Jewel was presented to Maxwell by John Jones.
On conclusion of the ceremony, Dave rose to congratulate Keith on his being installed as master of the lodge and he also congratulated Jeremy and all the other officer’s for their hard work in what had been a very good ceremony.
Keith presented Dave with a cheque on behalf of the lodge for the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity for the sum of £250 which was very gratefully received.
After Exemplars legendary five course festive board with drinks throughout, Dave responded to the toast to the health of grand officer’s and wished Maxwell a healthy and enjoyable year in office.
David thanked Tony Edden as being one of the hardest working Masons in the district who wears so many hats. Whether it is being secretary for numerous lodges as well as preparing summons, Tony also helps run the Swinton Masonic Hall and also has helped out in the building works etc on the hall as well. He also congratulated Tony on his promotion to PJGD.
David gave his personal congratulations to Keith (WM) on becoming the master once again of such a fine lodge and also mentioned Keith’s up and coming 50 years in Freemasonry (which will be in July this year).
Dave said how much of a pleasure it was to be at Exemplar and once again congratulated Jeremy and the other officers involved in the installation.
David congratulated Bill Walker of Monton Progress on his new post as the Group Charity Steward.
He went on to mention the forthcoming Group Biennial Dinner and a Group Ball to be held at Elm Bank Masonic Hall on 27 May.
Dave also thanked John Jones the Director of Ceremonies and Edwin Schofield the lodge secretary for helping make the evening a success.
