Peter was welcomed by Stuart Boyd who presented him with a bag of the traditional Eccles cakes which brought a smile from Peter.

The guests were about to be treated to a double ceremony, an installation and an initiation both on the same night.

Having opened the lodge and the preliminary business attend to, WM Peter Staines was proclaimed into the chair of King Solomon by Paul Newton for a second year in succession.

Peter invested all his officers who were remaining in their respective offices for the ensuing year. On conclusion of the proclamation, the next business on the summons was to initiate a new candidate, Pishral Mina. This ceremony was performed with dignity and sincerity by Peter and his officers.

On conclusion of the double ceremony, Peter brought the greetings of the PrGM Tony Harrison and extended his best wishes to the brethren for the forthcoming year. Peter Staines then presented Peter Alan with a cheque in the sum of £400 in favour of the MCF 2021 Festival to which Peter thanked the brethren for their kind generosity.

At the festive board Peter Allen extended his personal congratulations to the WM and expressed just how much he had enjoyed both ceremonies and hoped that the brethren have a busy and satisfying year having started with the initiation of a new candidate, Pishral Mina.

Peter brought the message from the PrGM that it is important that we support our Masonic halls and that Swinton Masonic Hall is a fine example of what can be achieved.

He also expressed that we should wear our Stewards Jewell, celebrating our tercentenary with pride and that if any brethren had not yet purchased one, that it is not too late. His final message was that our PrGM encourages us to continue to enjoy our Freemasonry.

Peter thanked the grand officers for their support on the evening and thanked Stuart Boyd for his invitation
