Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master John Hutton was the principle guest attending Swinton Masonic Hall to celebrate the installation of Frank Foster into the chair of Exemplar Lodge No 5075. John was greeted by Eccles Group Chairman Stuart Boyd who presented him with the traditional Eccles cakes.
WM Maxwell Keith Bruce opened the lodge and on completion of the business, received and welcomed PAPrGM John Hutton, accompanied by grand officer Tony Edden, Eccles Group Chairman Stuart Boyd and acting Provincial grand officer David Marlor.
Master elect Frank Foster was presented for the benefit of installation by Edwin Schofield. The installation was performed in fine style by Maxwell Keith Bruce assisted by installing senior warden Ken Alker, installing junior warden Tony Edden and installing inner guard Brian Pearson.
The working tools of the third degree were presented by Brian Pearson, the second degree working tools by Paul Heathcote and the first degree working tools by Edwin Schofield.
The address to the WM was given by Edwin Schofield and that to the wardens by Tony Edden. Maxwell Keith Bruce explained and presented the Hall Stone Jewel to the newly installed master, Frank Foster.
Frank then invested his officers for the coming year. The group charity steward Bill Walker read the responsibilities of the lodge charity steward to Frank and thanked him for undertaking this important office.
On conclusion of the ceremony, John rose to bring the best wishes of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, who had expressed his gratitude to Frank for taking the chair of this fine lodge for the second time. He congratulated Maxwell and all the other officer’s for their excellent work in what had been a very good ceremony, particularly Edwin Schofield who had multi tasked throughout the evening.
Frank presented John with cheques on behalf of the lodge for the MCF 2021 Festival for the sum of £300 and £200 to Swinton Charitable Trust.
With the principal guest having retired from the lodge, the remaining business of the evening was conducted before the lodge was closed and the brethren retired to enjoy a wonderful five course festive board with drinks throughout.
John treated the brethren to a most informative and entertaining response to the toast to grand officers. He also took the opportunity to offer his own congratulations to Frank and his officers and wished them a healthy and enjoyable year ahead.
John said how much of a pleasure it was to be at Exemplar Lodge and thanked the lodge brethren for their hospitality and also to Stuart Boyd and David Marlor for accompanying him. The evening concluded with the tyler’s toast.
